Rising Together: How Snap Fitness Toa Payoh’s HYROX Community Is Building Strength, Endurance, and Friendship
From first-time racers to returning competitors, see how Snap Fitness Toa Payoh’s HYROX community is building confidence, resilience, and real friendships ahead of HYROX Singapore 2025.
As HYROX Singapore returns this week, the energy at Snap Fitness Toa Payoh is buzzing with excitement. From first-time competitors to returning athletes hungry for improvement, our HYROX community is stepping up once again. Stronger, faster, and more united than ever.
Returning Competitors: What Brings Them Back?
For some, HYROX has become a personal benchmark – a challenge they’re determined to conquer again and again.
Ryan returns with an unexpected push from friends:
“I took part again because I got peer pressured into this… I was not even around when my friend signed me up for it!”
Ryan’s HYROX journey has been quite the ride: he started with Men Open Doubles in June, raced Men Doubles Pro in August in Beijing, and is now stepping into the Men Open Single category for the upcoming race – a true test of his solo endurance and strategy.
Ace is here to keep levelling up:
“I’m keeping myself accountable, aiming for a better timing, and trying new race categories.”
First-Time Competitors: Their Motivation to Start
For others, this race marks a meaningful first step into the HYROX world.
Sammi joined with a personal milestone in mind:
“I initially joined the gym because of my wedding, and I wanted something to motivate me further, so I joined the race with Sine for the upcoming doubles.”
Sine found her inspiration from the sidelines – until she realized she wanted to be part of it:
“I went to the June race as a spectator and thought it would be a good birthday gift for myself turning 30 if I can compete in the race!”
What’s Different This Time Around?
Returning athletes are entering this race with new goals, new bodies, and a renewed mindset.
For Ryan, going solo this round changes everything:
“As a solo participant, I need to manage the stations on my own rather than share the load like in the previous race.”
Benson, after completing our 8-week transformation challenge, steps in with a transformed sense of purpose:
“I lost quite a lot of weight and wanted to prove myself better after the June race. With newfound stamina, I want to see where I’m at alongside David, my partner from June.”
David echoes the same commitment:
“We hit 1h 38mins for our first race and never stopped training since. We’re giving it another try and aiming for sub 1h 25mins this time.”
Stations They Look Forward To, and the Ones They Fear
From burpees to wall balls, everyone has their strengths and fears.
Wei Keat approaches the stations with strategy:
“I look forward to the rowing station because I can rest a lot. I dread the last station, the wall ball, because my upper body is the weakest.”
For Sine, HYROX doubles has given her newfound confidence:
“I look forward to the burpee broad jumps because I was scared at first, but my partner, Sammi, believed I could do it.”
Still, she admits:
“The station I dread the most is surprisingly rowing.”
Sammi, on the other hand, sees the finish line as motivation:
“I’m looking forward to the wall balls because it means we’re close to the end. I dread the burpees – which is ironically Sine’s favourite.”
Most Memorable HYROX Moment
Nothing sums up the unpredictability of HYROX better than Wei Keat’s unforgettable story:
“During the last lap of the race, I actually went to the washroom while running… my partner Ryan had stitches, and I told him to run slower while I use the restroom first!”
A true HYROX memory if there ever was one!
Advice for Future HYROX Competitors
Our athletes have trained, struggled, improved – and now they’re sharing wisdom.
Ace reminds first-time racers to enjoy the process safely:
“Do your best, have fun, and stay safe & healthy!”
Benson stresses the importance of running:
“Run a lot. When your running improves, the entire race becomes more manageable. Even when you push hard on the machines, you’ll still have stamina to continue.”
David adds a smart training strategy:
“Train heavier than your competition weight. If the sandbag is 20kg on race day, train with more. The actual race feels lighter, and you’ll progress faster.”
Ready for Race Day!
With their stories, motivations, and advice, one thing is clear: the HYROX team at Snap Fitness Toa Payoh is more ready than ever. Whether they’re racing solo or as a pair, each athlete steps into the arena carrying persistence, discipline, and the unwavering support of their community.
This week, we cheer them on as they chase new records, conquer new challenges, and create new memories together.
Good luck to our HYROX warriors. We’re behind you every step (and every kilometre) of the way!
